Destination wedding photography + adventurous elopement photographers based in the Canadian Rockies

If you look at our Instagram feed, you’ll probably see couples exploring the great outdoors on their wedding or elopement day. Brave couples, empowered couples, couples doing what they want on their wedding day, from climbing to skiing to kite surfing and everything in between. No, these aren’t styled shoots or professional models. These are real couples who said yes to an adventure of a lifetime.

Our wedding philosophy is simple. We believe in elopements and intimate weddings that are designed to tell the story of the couple they celebrate, more intimate than the traditional wedding day. Wedding experiences that focus on your love story, in the place where you feel most at home: the great outdoors, or special location that speaks to your heart. And if you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you feel the same too

We’re Film and Forest, and we can’t wait to capture your adventure of a lifetime.

About Banff wedding photographer Hayley Wasylicia of Film and Forest Photography

Hayley

Backpacker. Climber. Coffee Lover.

I’m a proud sunset chaser and think any time spent outdoors is well-spent. Cruisy multi-pitch climbs and mellow ski tours are my go-to adventures, if I’m not headed out on a backpacking trek or trail run with my dog. Downtime means a good book and cup of java to fuel my next adventure!

Proudest adventure: Teaching a yoga retreat in Tofino or skiing Assiniboine provincial park!
Bucket list goal: Run the Banff Sunshine to Mount Shark Ultramarathon – about 58 kms and 6000ft of endless mountain views!

About Banff wedding photographer Andrew Forstved of Film and Forest Photography

Andrew

Skier. Surfer. Yoga Teacher.

I’m an adventurer with a love for more outdoor sports than easy to count – but whitewater paddling, climbing, and skiing top the list. As a backcountry guide and rescue technician, I’ve been working in the mountains for years. Relaxing usually involves a combination of producing music and doing yoga.

Proudest adventure: Guiding the legendary Chillkoot trail in Alaska
Bucket list goal: Learn how to speedride (a sport where paragliding meets skiing)!

About Banff wedding photographer Arlo the dog of Film and Forest Photography

Arlo

Swimmer. Social Butterfly. Bacon Lover.

I’m a 4 year old goldendoodle with a love for mountains and mud. My favourite game is playing hide-and-seek in the forest, sniffing my way to mom and dad (and all the treats they have in their pockets)!

Proudest adventure: Learning to surf with Dad in Tofino
Bucket list goal: Hike the entire wild pacific crest trail, mark every tree, and share the fresh fish my humans catch!

about us + our own love story

Outdoor adventure has always been a part of our lives. For the past 10+ years, we’ve been exploring the varied and rugged landscapes of Western Canada, capturing stunning sunrises and candid moments of us and our loved ones along the way.

Our mutual love for skiing, climbing, trail running, backpacking, and paddling led us to one another and opened up so many incredible locations we’ve been able to explore throughout our lives.

Hayley’s journey as a photographer began in 2008 when she picked up her first camera – a Canon Powershot A470 – and her passion for capturing the outdoors and candid, storytelling portraits has only grown, as has our camera collection!

Andrew’s love for visual storytelling took root when he went to film school in 2018, and he continues to refine his camera skills to share special stories. Together, we have a boundless sense of adventure and an eye for capturing special moments.

We now call the beautiful town of Canmore, AB home and split our time between the Canadian Rockies and coastal British Columbia, helping other couples create their own unforgettable memories in stunning locations.
